#5 Jeeps Only – The Trans America Trail

August 3, 2020. REPOSTED, WE HAVE VERY LIMITED WIFI IN THE BACK COUNTRY. Please be patient…..😟

More corn. More corn. More corn. Missing the tobacco crops……

Christmas trees! But it is interesting that the corn crops have signage as to type of seeds used, whether crop is for food or fuel, etc. Bruce remembers the saying from his childhood, “knee high by The 4th of July…….

Today we are criss crossing the Appalachian Trail as we get closer to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park.

Hey look!! We’re in Tennessee!!

5 minutes later, not!

We need to talk about this Kudzu vine that is swallowing the South. We’re seeing old houses, barns, vehicles, and entire mountainsides overtaken by this crazy vine.

A couple hundred more miles traveled today…. just amazingAnd we found Ruby’s

brother from another mother….

Ok, tonight we took it a bit easier…..

We were looking for the campground and found these nice little cottages in Hot.Springs, yes still in North Carolina. It’s a beautiful state, but time to move on.

  1. Hey Allison—Enjoying the blog. Makes me feel like I’m right there with you. Your recent post (#5) is not showing up. Is it just me, or have others had problems too?
