In the Great Smokey Mountain National Park
We tried to find parking so that we could hike to see the Clingsman Dome but the crowds were crazy. You have cars along the sides of the road that belong to Appalachian Trail hikers. Then there’s the bicycling crowd, OTV’s, and of course jeeps 😊 running the TAT.
This place is crazy!!
Next up was the “Tail of the Dragon”. It’s a very famous stretch of road that has 318 curves in just 11 miles. There are professional camera crews staged along the highway and the motorcycle riders put on a good show. There are warnings everywhere, as it’s a certified “High Death Rate” area…..,.. here we go!!
But first, set up the Go Pro camera. The first two minutes I was filming facing in to the car, turned the camera around and fined the next two minutes upside down!!! Finally got it right!
At the bottom of the run the crowds gather at Deal’s Gap. There’s a giant metal dragon with a motorcycle in its grasp.
Found nice camp on the river, no cell, just satellite messaging. And no blog posting!

Wonderful reading your posts. Glad to see you are up higher where temps might be a bit better.
